A strokepatient in Germany has been treated by a stem cell therapy, the only clinical trial of it's kind. Genitically engineered bone marrow stem cells were injected into his brain and hoped to aid recovery. The therapy is known as CellBeads and uses mesenchymal stem cells that are genetically engineered to produce a protein that inhibits cell death.
